We are very pleased to present the new SMARTCASE™ S711 chassis of the “Designed by Fujitsu” series. The SMARTCASE™ S711 is designed for the mITX motherboard family D3713-V/R supporting the AMD Embedded Ryzen™ V1000 and R1000 processor series. In March, the D3713-V/R family will be completed with the entry power variant D3713-R1 including the AMD Embedded Ryzen™ R1102G APU and a TDP of only 6 watts. Litemax launches Intel SDM-based systems

 

Litemax, a display solution provider has launched a new product line based on Intel smart display module (SDM) specification. Intel SDM module specification can reduce power consumption, flexibly integrate with different LCD displays, and quickly create new display solutions, according to the company.

Following Intel's SDM specification and reference design, Litemax has launched two in-house-developed SDM boards, the ASDM-APL6 and ASDM-APL5.

The ASDM-APL6 is a small SDM board (60x100mm), equipped with Intel Apollo Lake SoC, LPDDR4-2GB and eMMC-32GB on board, one Intel Gigabit Ethernet port, two USB 3.0 ports, and WiFi 802.11ac (M.2) support. The open pluggable M.2 module is designed for low power consumption applications including digital signage, public kiosks, and point-of-sale.

The ASDM-APL5 is large SDM board (175x100 mm), equipped with Intel Apollo Lake SoC (6-12W) on board, DDR3L up to 8GB SO-DIMM, one Intel Gigabit Ethernet port, two USB 3.0 ports, one COM and two M.2 Key-E and M slot. Due to more I/O ports and powerful SoC inside, the board is meant for specific and professional applications including point-of-sale, transportation signage and hospitality, Litemax said. Litemax said it also offers many SDM-ready display computing systems for low to high-end vertical applications. At the beginning of 2018, Litemax the released IPPS-3205-SDM1 and IPPS-4355-SDM1, two high-end SDM display computing systems.

The IPPS-3205-SDM1 is a 32-inch UHD LCD system, with Litemax Duarpixel LCD, brightness up to 800 nits. It features Litemax's own MaxRGB technology (NTSC up to 94%), and embedded Intel SDM. It is for multi digital signage solutions in retailers, restaurants and infrastructures.

The IPPS-4355-SDM1 is a UHD SDM-ready system featuring Litemax Spanpixel LCD display. The aspect ratio of the system is 16:2.2, with brightness of the LCD up to 1000 nits, and NTSC up to 95%. Litemax said the IPPS-4355-SDM1 system is meant to be a turnkey system for public transportation signage.

"In 2018, Litemax will cooperate with Intel closely and provide more products to support Intel SDM specification," said David King, general manager of Litemax.

Litemax Announces

LCD Modules for Industrial Applications with an MTBF of 100,000 Hours

Litemax Electronics, a leading provider in customizable thin film transistor (TFT) LCD displays, last month announced LCD modules for industrial applications with a Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) of 100,000 hours. The technology will be available on all models within the Durapixel and Spanpixel range.

In line with the core competency of Litemax in premium, sunlight readable display technologies, the LCD modules are designed to satisfy the requirements of a diverse range of harsh, demanding environments and vertical markets, such as transportation, industrial, marine and gaming, utilizing the latest LED backlight technology.

The LED-backlit displays boast high-end features, such as lower electromagnetic noise and lower power consumption. Also, the successful development of a backlight system with an MTBF of 100,000 hours exceeds typical product longevity requirements for industrial-grade applications with frequent or continuous operation and minimal maintenance.

Prior to the upgrade to an MTBF of 100,000 hours, Litemax has been providing an MTBF of 70,000 hours throughout each series. Models of Durapixel and Spanpixel featured with an MTBF of 100,000 hours are available immediately.

CEM880 - COM Express Type 6 Module with 5th Generation Intel® Core™ Processor

The CEM880, a COM Express Type 6 module, features the 5th generation Intel® Core™ processor, one onboard 4 GB extended temperature DDR3L chip, and one 204-pin SO-DIMM DDR3L socket supporting up to 8 GB. In conjunction with Axiomtek’s baseboard CEB94006 or user-supplied carrier board, the CEM880 supports one PCIe x16 v3.0, eight PCIe x1 devices, and maximum up to 24 lanes of PCIe to provide rich I/O options. ALR-1400: Now supporting PWM backlight dimming & Widescreen modes

The ALR-1400 will receive a new production release firmware in the coming weeks which adds the following features:

(1) Support CVT (coordinated video timing), 4 video modes: 1440x900, 1366x768, 1280x800 and 800x480.

(2) Support PWM backlight dimming control via RS-232 command OSD menu control.

We have an evaluation firmware version available for testing ‘E1.91.00”, please let Braemac know if you would like to review this version.

 
 

Controller Revision Notes Online (H/W & Firmware)

In order to help track changes to production firmware releases for all Digitalview controllers, the ability to download the revision notes for hardware and software changes will soon be available. This has so far been implemented on the SVX-1920, ALR-1920 & ALR-1400 controllers, others will be added soon. Please talk to Braemac if you require more information.

 
 

Calibration solutions for DV Controllers

Digitalview are currently developing various utilities to aid the calibration process of their controllers. There is availability of a beta version for video-wall applications for panel brightness and color temperature adjustment, and the default colour temperature is to match CIE standard illuminant D65.

The next stage is a utility to allow the user to measure a target panel (e.g. reference monitor using SVX-1920) and copy the parameters of brightness and colour temperature to calibrate other panels one-by-one.

The calibration process for each panel should take less than 3 minutes. Please register your interest by sending Braemac an email for more information on the developments.

Migration options after Windows XP

Windows XP is one of Microsoft's most famous operating systems because of its high level of reliability and stability. Windows XP was first launched on the 25th October 2001. Since its launch Microsoft has continually improved the users' experience by releasing service packs which bring important security updates, non-security hotfixes and general improvements.

Microsoft has confirmed that all these services will be coming to an end and Windows XP will become unsupported on 8th April 2014.


Machines bought before the release of Windows 7 (October 2009) are probably not worth upgrading and we strongly recommend purchasing a new PC.


The most recent Windows operating system is Windows 8.1. Check whether your PC can run Windows 8.1 by using the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant

 

Transferring files and other settings

Windows Easy Transfer is the simplest way to transfer your data, whether you decide to upgrade your old PC, or buy a new Windows 8 machine. You will need a USB external disk to store the files you want to transfer.


Windows Easy Transfer isn't present by default in Windows XP, so it will need to be downloaded and installed.

Cholesteric Liquid Crystal Displays (ChLCD)

Braemac would like to introduce a range of display products, both colour and monochrome, manufactured using Cholesteric Liquid Crystal (ChLCD).

These displays are bistable, reflective, low power, have a wide temperature range and long lifetime - the only environmentally-friendly, full-colour display technology!

Monochrome

Monochrome ChLCD‘s reflect light in a single colour and can be made in a number of different colours. An absorber is placed behind the display, this is normally black or blue, and this provides the contrast between the reflected areas and the dark background areas.

Colour

Colour ChLCD’s are made by stacking 3 monochrome displays on top of each other, a red, a green and a blue. By driving each display separately and by a process of dithering, full colour displays, up to 4096 colours, are produced by the combination of reflections through the 3 crystal layers.

Low power

As these displays are reflective, no additional power is required for lighting. In addition, because these displays are bistable, once the image has been set on the display no further power is required to maintain it. A typical single panel update consumes about 3W for the monochrome and 7W for the colour display for about 10 seconds. Partial display updates are allowed which reduce the time for which power is required.

Wide temperature range

These displays can operate from -40 Deg C to +80 Deg C.

Long lifetime

The lifetime is quoted in excess of 100,000 hours at 30C.

Each display panel is supplied with a driver board with RS232 or RS422 communications. In addition, we can offer controller boards with Ethernet connections which allow for faster communications to large assemblies of display panels.

ANNOUNCING ROCKTOUCH PROJECTED CAPACITIVE TOUCH SENSORS

Rocktouch bring together leading transparent ITO based Projected Capacitive touch technology with leading controller IC technology. COF (Chip on Flat/Flexi) controller design reduces the need for external controller boards and allows direct tail interfacing to the host PC (RS232/USB). Optional cover glass thicknesses are available from 3mm to vandal proof 6mm, therefore covering both standard and industrial requirements. Key market applications include Kiosk, ATM, POS, Industrial, Amusement, and AIO to name but a few.

The Controller IC is based on a COF (Chip on Flexi/Flat) design therefore comes as standard with each sensor. This approach eliminates additional cables and separate controller boards. Utmost care has been taken to minimize noise and support flexibility and durability.

Regardless of which sensor size is desired, all of the 10 sizes have the same COF electrical and mechanical pin-out (1mm pitch, 6 pins). USB, I2C and UART is supported.

Cables and Adaptors are also provided to allow easy connection of the COF to standard consumer and Industrial PC Motherboards.

Thanks to the partnership with EETI on the Touch Controller IC’s, full support is offered on both Drivers and Firmware. Each sensor supports Dual (2 finger) touch.

SPANPIXEL – ULTRA WIDE TFT DISPLAYS

Spanpixel, Litemax’s line of super wide aspect ratio displays will replace many traditional LED scrolling sign boards providing a whole new level of full color graphics.

The Litemax range of LED backlit Spanpixel products offer a choice of Luminance levels between of 300 to 1000 cd/m² ensuring most application needs are met. With availability in sizes of 6.4” to 49” (7” to 55” cut), all products come with LED Driving board supplied as standard, and optional A/D Boards (to meet the requirement for varying signal source inputs). All products are LVDS interface and come with an optional integrated touch sensor.
